The 1st Environthon meeting will be held this Thurs from 2:30 - 3:00.  Members will learn about wildlife, forestry, aquatics, environment issues, and land and soil.  Make sure you have a ride home.

There will be a middle school dance on Friday.
Reminders:  $2.00 admission
2:15 - 4:15  If leaving early, parent must come in. Parent permission required to stay.
No calls home Friday for permission to stay.  Must wear tennis shoes or socks on the gym floor.
Pizza and pop will be available for sale.

If you and your family eats at Bob Evans tonight—and if you show them the flier that you received in homeroom on Friday—our academic boosters organization, ACE, will receive 15% of the sales.  If you need an extra flier, you can pick one up in Student Services or the Guidance Office.

The 8th grade soccer team lost to Jackson on Wednesday.  Scoring both goals for Logan was Caleb Keck.

The 8th grade soccer team beat the Athens Bulldogs on Saturday with a score of 3 to 1.  Scoring goals for the game were Caleb Keck with 2 goals and 
Peyton Quier with 1.  Good job Chiefs!


Spirit day will be held Tuesday September 28th  Everyone wear pink  and support volley for the cure. There will no longer be extra points.

A reminder from A.C.E.  --- If you eat at Bob Evans in Logan  Thursday, ACE—the academic booster organization for the school district—will receive 15% of sales.  So please remember to take these home and give them to your parents.

We are re-doing the Military Showcase in the cafeteria in honor of our servicemen & servicewomen.   We have a few up but need more!   Please submit photographs along with the person's name, rank, branch of service, where serving if possible & their relationship to you.  Put these in Mrs. Lehman's mailbox.


Chess Club will begin on Monday, September 27. Chess Club is open to all students at Logan-Hocking Middle School and meets on Mondays after school until 3:20. We meet in library.

If you would like to join, please pick up a permission form from Mrs. Crisler in room 214 or from the "activities board" outside Student Services. You must have a signed permission form to stay. You will need to arrange for a ride home at 3:20 after Chess Club. Please join Chess Club this year and encourage your friends to join, too. 

You do not have to know how to play chess to join. You can learn at Chess Club!


A Hunter Safety Course is being on October 4-5-6-11 and 12 from 6:30 - 9:30.  (You must attend all 5 nights)  Classes are helt at Izaak Walton Clubhouse on Blosser Rd.  Classes are open to the public and are free of charge.  Please bring a pen or pencil.  Information is available in the main office.

Please check lost and found.  A large number of hoodies and sweatshirt have turned up there.  Lost and found is located in the Chieftain head lobby across from the principal's office

Congratulations to the 7th grade football team for their 16-14 win over Vinton County. The Chiefs played well on both sides of the ball in the second half and are now 3-1.  Scoring were Cole Baron and Isaiah Smith.

Congratulations to the 8th grade football team who defeated Vinton County 24-12 last night.  Caleb Lewellen had an excellent game leading the team to victory.

For Friday's spirit day wear purple and something black and orange or tiger print to show your support for the chiefs to beat the tigers. examples of black and orange items, wrist bands, head bands, hair ties, scarfs, socks, nail polish, etc. Have fun with it.

There will be  new personalized Logan Chieftain spirit items  for sale on Friday.  Check out the spirit cart.

Bowling - Organizational meeting Saturday, Sept. 25 at noon.

Choraliers practice Friday from 2:30 - 4:00.  Bring your dance shoes.  Forms and money are due by 9-30.  All choir and Choraliers members must turn in their fundraiser order forms as soon as possible.  Absolute deadline is Friday.

"The first issue of the Jr. Chieftain News will be on sale Friday during homeroom for only a quarter."

Any 6th grade student wishing to run for Student Council can get a form from Mr. Hermann in room 76 or Mrs. Hughes in room 228 this week.
All forms are due back by Friday, September 24th.

Good luck to the 7th and 8th grade football teams and cheerleaders who play at the high school tonight at 5:30. Please come out and support your teams.
