Monday - Chess Club will meet today in room 214 - Mrs. Crisler's room. Please wait there until Mrs. Crisler arrives from bus duty. 

Tuesday  - There will be a Teen Institute meeting on Tuesday, December 7, after school in Room 128.  All members should try to attend.

All Choraliers performance outfits must be taken home either tonight or tomorrow.

All Choir performance outfits must be taken home before Thursday's concert.

Friday - Dance:  12/10 @ 2:25-4:10 
 Students are to make arrangements ahead of time ( no calls made the day of the dance)
Wear sneakers or socks
$ 2.00 to enter and  (you can purchase pizza and pop)

An assortment of Christmas items are available to purchase from the spirit cart.  Prices range from 25 cents to $2.00.

8th graders interested in the PLAN test should complete an application and bring it with the $10 fee to the Main office. 
Applications are available in honors classes.  There are only 15 spaces available. 

Dec. 10 will be the absolute final day that you can turn in money for a yearbook.  See Mrs. Harden in room 146 if you still want a yearbook.
Yearbooks will not come in until May but you must pre order to get one.

There will be a student council meeting Wednesday in the theatre at 9AM for all members
 grades 5 - 8.

There will be NO chess club this coming Monday, Nov. 22

All Choir members are reminded that publicity photos will be taken on Friday!  Performance outfits including shoes should be in the music room and in good order Friday morning.

There will be no envirothon Thursday because of conferences.  Next meeting will be Dec. 2.

The new Archery t-shirts and hoodies will be sold during lunch periods on Friday.

The Teen Institute meeting scheduled for Tuesday has been cancelled due to Joanna not being able to be here.  The next meeting will be November 16.

There is a  mandatory winter sports  meeting for any student/parent who did not attend the fall meeting on Monday at 6:00 at the high school.  This is for anyone who plans to participate in winter or spring sports.

The last Varsity football game is this evening at the high school.

7th grade football won last night 28-0.  Scoring were Nick Guess, Cole Baron and Bryce McBride.  Grayce Huntsberger with 34 yards rushing, which is a school record for yards by a girl.

Stickers to wear pajama bottoms on Friday will start being sold today during lunch periods .  Stickers will also be sold  before school on Friday.  Students must put the sticker in their agenda book on Friday's page to show their homeroom teacher.

Today's theme:  put a cap on drugs - students can wear ball caps - no crazy hats.

"The Halloween edition of the Jr. Chieftain News will be on sale Friday, October 29th during homeroom for only 25 cents! Don't forget your quarter on Friday!"


There will be a meeting on Friday directly after morning announcements for any 7th or 8th grade boy who is interested in Jr. High Wrestling this winter.

Next week is Red Ribbon Week.  There will be a special dress-up day each day of the week.  On Monday, students are being asked to wear red.  Better write this down in your agenda so that you remember, because we have a long weekend.  You will also receive a red ribbon in homeroom on Monday.

There will be a red sign posted in each of the classrooms which tells what each dress-up day will be.  Please check this each day.

The 8th grade volleyball team tied with Bishop Flaget (Fla-jay) Thursday. Laurel Frasure led the team with 3 ace serves.  Brenna Gates, Grace Seibel, Bailey Simons, Storee Smith, Alexis Snyder, Moriah Maffin each had one ace serve.  Brenna Gates tore up the net with 4 kills and 2 tips.  Hannah Topf and Grace Seibel also had excellent front row play with 2 kills a piece.  Laurel Frasure added one kill.  The girls last game is tonight.  Good luck!


Congratulations to the Logan-Hocking Middle School Girls Cross Country team . The team was awarded league runner-up at the league meet in Gallia on Saturday. Earning individual all-league honors were Faith Freeman, Lucy Leffler, and Emily Starlin. Mikalela Hoellrich and Jessie Tirpak rounded out the top five runners scoring for Logan. All nine Logan runners ran two miles in the 14 to 16 minute range.  Again, congratulations on a job well-done.

-7th and 8th grade Volleyball DOES have practice after school tonight until 4:00pm

The 8th grade soccer team lost to Zane Trace on Monday with a score of 7 - 2.  Scoring both goals for Logan was Caleb Keck.

Attention 8th grade students:  Please remember to take home the letter which you received in homeroom yesterday regarding the two field trips this week.  It is important that your parent/guardian read this letter.  If you were absent yesterday, please ask your homeroom teacher for a copy.

A reminder - students are to stay in the gym or cafeteria until the bell rings at 7:15.

Congratulations to the 7th grade football team who defeated the 8th grade football team 30-6 yesterday in teh Ron Janey bowl.  Cole Baron was voted the games MVP.

This morning 8th grade students will be called to the theatre to hear a presentation on Tri-County Career Center.  

Congratulations to the 8th grade volleyball team who defeated Chillicothe last night 25-20, 25-14.  Melanie Starlin led the team in serves with 6 aces, Storee Smith had 3 aces, Hannah Topf had 3 aces, and Laurel Frasure and Alexis Snyder each added an ace.  Brenna Gates was a beast on the net with 5 kills.  Chloe Dietzel, Alexis Snyder, Symantha Horton, and Kerrigan Stuller each also had a kill.  Great Job ladies and good luck against Athens Wednesday!

The girls cross country team finished fourth at the Piketon Invitational on Saturday
All nine runners ran personal records at this meet.
The top five runners for Logan were

Greer Perkins with a two mile time of 13:14
Lucy Leffler with a time  of 14:52
Jessie Tirpak with a time of 14:55
Emily Starlin with a time of 14:58
and Mikalela Hoellrich with a time of 15:05

Joining the top five with personal records were Bethany Anzalone, Faden Brooks, Anna Hoellrich and Sydnee Brown.
The girls will run in a home meet this Thursday.

The 8th grade soccer team beat the Athens Bulldogs on Saturday with a score of 3 to 1.  Scoring goals for the game were Caleb Keck with 2 goals and 
Peyton Quier with 1.  Good job Chiefs!


Spirit day will be held Tuesday September 28th  Everyone wear pink  and support volley for the cure. There will no longer be extra points.

A reminder from A.C.E.  --- If you eat at Bob Evans in Logan  Thursday, ACE—the academic booster organization for the school district—will receive 15% of sales.  So please remember to take these home and give them to your parents.

We are re-doing the Military Showcase in the cafeteria in honor of our servicemen & servicewomen.   We have a few up but need more!   Please submit photographs along with the person's name, rank, branch of service, where serving if possible & their relationship to you.  Put these in Mrs. Lehman's mailbox.

Congratulations to the 7th grade football team for their 16-14 win over Vinton County. The Chiefs played well on both sides of the ball in the second half and are now 3-1.  Scoring were Cole Baron and Isaiah Smith.

Congratulations to the 8th grade football team who defeated Vinton County 24-12 last night.  Caleb Lewellen had an excellent game leading the team to victory.

Any 6th grade student wishing to run for Student Council can get a form from Mr. Hermann in room 76 or Mrs. Hughes in room 228 this week.
All forms are due back by Friday, September 24th.

Good luck to the 7th and 8th grade football teams and cheerleaders who play at the high school tonight at 5:30. Please come out and support your teams.

Results of Choraliers auditions for the 2010-2011 school year will be posted in the hall outside the vocal music room at the end of the day today.

8th grade choir and Choralier members will perform tomorrow morning for Alumni Day.  Arrive at the high school theatre at 9:45  We will perform from 10:00 - 10:45.  Wear jeans and choir or Choralier t-shirts.  Choraliers members - remember to take home dance shoes for tomorrow's performance.

All choir performance outfits needs to be turned in immediately.

Choraliers "Last Dance" will be held Tuesday from 2:30 - 4:00.  Newly chosen Choraliers members are welcome to attend.

Mrs. Dietz would like to thank all of the girls who attended the cross country meeting. Please return your parent volunteer form and Relay for Life information to Mr. Dietz or his mailbox before the end of the school year.

Girls who would still like to join the team but did not attend the meeting should see Mr. Dietz.

Reminder to any boy or girl planning to play golf next year.  Golf camp for boys and girls entering 9th grade will be Tuesday - Friday from 4:30 - 7:00 next week June 2-5.  Any boy or girl that will be in 7th or 8th grade next year are reminded that beginning Monday June 8 and every Monday the rest of the summer at 9 AM, there will be open practice at the Brass RIng.
